Falkland Hive produced a gentle, expressive mid-season honey shaped by a slow, weather‑held spring and a sudden surge of mid‑summer clover. While Little Fife charged through the season with intensity, Falkland moved with calm precision, creating a harvest that captures the landscape with softness and clarity.

Climate Notes

The season opened reluctantly for Falkland Hive. June remained cold, wet, and unsettled, keeping the foothills saturated and delaying the first nectar sources. Dandelions didn’t appear until nearly two weeks past their usual timing, and when they finally bloomed, the window was unusually short, just a few days before the flowers shifted to seed. The land felt paused, waiting for spring warmth that never quite arrived.

Frost persisted well into summer, with the final frost touching the apiary on July 6. Only after that point did the season break open. Clover responded immediately, erupting across the meadows in a concentrated bloom. Falkland’s gentle colony eased into the flow with steady, unhurried work, gathering nectar consistently through July’s brief but abundant window. Their approach was measured rather than aggressive, building up beautifully as the month progressed.

Tasting Notes

Falkland Hive’s 2026‑01 harvest is bright and fruit‑forward, but expressed with a softer, more delicate touch than Little Fife’s. The flavour opens with light orchard‑fruit notes, followed by a clean floral sweetness and a subtle caramel warmth. The finish is smooth and lifted, carrying a small burst of fruit that feels fresh rather than bold.

The aroma is sweet, airy, and lightly grassy, reflecting the cool, late spring and rapid clover bloom, but Falkland’s scent leans gentler and more refined, mirroring the hive’s temperament.

Hive Temperament

Falkland Hive is calm, composed, and exceptionally gentle. They approached the compressed nectar window with quiet consistency, building steadily rather than dominating their forage range. Their temperament influences the character of the honey itself, soft, balanced, and expressive of the landscape without force.
